Not meant for public consumption
At first I thought it was a fake because of the tone and the typos but the author of this letter written from The World Economic Forum in Davos confirms it is legit in this Metafilter thread. The letter is a personal note sent to one of her friends by a journalist who covered the international meeting of business and political elites and had some special access to private meetings.
The letter is a pretty fascinating read as the author seems pretty candid about her experiences. But what I found most interesting was the difference between what she reported the CEOs, bankers and ministers discussing and what gets reported in the newspapers. Apparently 90% of al Quaeda terrorists have been eliminated worldwide which seems substantially more than the impression I get from the media. There is also a huge amount of fear about the current and future global economic situation. And around the world resentment towards America is growing. Interesting stuff.
