Hulkamania is running wild like never before

I could not think of a better way to get today's video game obsessed youngster turned on to the political situation than the Anti-Bush game. It is fun, funny and educational. The only problem with it is that it is really graphic. Gratuitously so. But I guess it almost has to be that way just to match the obscenity, absurdity, dishonesty and indeceny of the current administration. It is cliched but I could see this as the wave of the future in terms of getting the 18-25 demographic politically involved.

Cthulhu For VP

This series will follow, primarily by means of actual postcards of the era, the travels of a farming family from the great plains as they visit Los Angeles and its environs in the early years of the Twentieth Century.

The roots of the Abu Ghraib prison scandal lie not in the criminal inclinations of a few Army reservists but in a decision, approved last year by Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, to expand a highly secret operation, which had been focussed on the hunt for Al Qaeda, to the interrogation of prisoners in Iraq. Rumsfeld’s decision embittered the American intelligence community, damaged the effectiveness of élite combat units, and hurt America’s prospects in the war on terror.

Sliding Down the Slippery Slope

How did we get from liberating Iraq to sodomizing Iraqis with glowsticks? The answer seems unclear and complicated at this point. It starts with a high level decision to ignore the Geneva convention in Gitmo. Then, last year, in an attempt to increase the flow of intelligence coming from the prisons, Maj. General Miller was sent from Gitmo to Abu Ghraib. At this point Lt. General Sanchez issued an order on the 19th of November to Colonel Pappas, the head of military intelligence and interrogations, which essentially put the interrogators in charge of the prison. They instructed the guards to "soften up" the detainees for interrogation. From there poor discipline, training and leadership took over.
